Overview
A Long History of Multi-Stakeholder Gatherings. The Ad-Hoc Industry Natural Resource Management Group initiated ongoing dialogue with key federal government departments and agencies over 20 years ago. See the Industry/Trustee Standing Committee section of this website. One of the hallmarks of the Group's work over the years has been the high priority of building best practices, ideally via consensus, within the business community and with key stakeholders in government, academia, research and concrete organizations and more. The Symposia and Workshops described here are pertinent in that they broke ground on unique conversations and tools to address natural resource labilities related to hazardous waste sites and oil spills under US laws. Elsewhere on this website is a summary listing of similar activities undertaken in Europe.
Our Natural Resources Symposia. Since 1999, the Ad-Hoc Industry Natural Resource Management Group has convened a dozen Natural Resources Symposia, each with its own theme. These Symposia constitute a unique multi-stakeholder examination of national and international scope natural resource related policies and practices, with a strong focus on cutting-edge approaches and identification of greatest needs moving forward. The various programs have focused on evolving policy and practice issues and related impacts -- and opportunities -- affecting companies and other parties working on environmental and natural resource matters. Innovative, flexible and pragmatic solutions that can be used to manage these issues have also been featured.
Wide Ranging Speakers and Participants. Each Symposium has featured an outstanding set of speakers ranging from government policy makers -- to senior officers, appointees and staff responsible for implementing corporate and government policies -- to attorneys, consultants, academics and other experts working in-the-trenches on natural resource matters. Participants have included a wide set of professionals in private and public sectors representing a wide range of specialties, including law, policy, environmental management and sustainability, risk management and more.
CLE Credit Provided. A number of States have repeatedly granted CLE credit for our Natural Resources Symposia throughout the years, including California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maine, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington and others. |
